Strachan West of England 6811 - undoubtedly THE cloth for snooker tables

The Strachan West of England 6811 snooker cloth is still produced in England and is made of 100% wool. The quality of the wool plays a match-deciding role for the playing characteristics of the cloth. The great popularity of this cloth is mainly due to the excellent running properties of the balls and the consistently high quality.

The fabric is first felted and then brushed in several passes to give the cloth a nap direction. After brushing, the fibers are cut so that they all have a uniform length.

One of the quality features is the weight, which ultimately indicates the amount of processed wool. A cloth under 30 ounces (oz) per yard (approx. 485 g/m2) is relatively thin. For a thick, heavy cloth to still be fast, it must be particularly well processed.

We always order 6811 as a 32 oz cloth, which makes it slightly more durable and resilient than the commonly used 30 oz cloth.

How much cloth is needed for a full-size 12-foot snooker table?

For a full-size table, 4 meters are needed for the table bed and 2 meters for the cushions, with a 2-meter piece of cloth being sufficient for 2 sets of cushions. The calculated length for a 12' snooker table with cushions is therefore 5 meters.
