 Strachan West of England 6811 - undeniably THE cloth for snooker tables

The Strachan West of England 6811 snooker cloth is still produced in England and is made of 100% wool. The quality of the wool plays a decisive role in the playing characteristics of the cloth. The great popularity of this cloth is primarily due to the excellent running properties of the balls and the consistently high quality.

The fabric is first felted and then brushed in several passes to give the cloth a direction of nap. After brushing, the fibers are cut so that they all have a uniform length.

One quality characteristic, among others, is the weight, which ultimately also indicates the amount of processed wool. A cloth under 30 ounces (oz) per yard (approx. 485 g/m2) is relatively thin. For a thick, heavy cloth to still be fast, it must be particularly well processed.

We always order 6811 as a 32 oz cloth, which makes it slightly more durable and resistant than the most commonly used 30 oz cloth.

How much cloth is needed for a full-size 12-foot snooker table?

For a full-size table, 4 meters are needed for the bed and 2 meters for the cushions, whereby a 2-meter piece of cloth is sufficient for 2 sets of cushions. The calculated length for a 12' snooker table with cushions is therefore 5 meters.

If the cushions are professionally covered with a clockwise nap direction, as required for tournaments, 580cm of cloth will be needed! Please contact us for this.
